A police dog was seriously injured and another dog was shot dead during an arrest overnight.

Police were called to an incident in Coomera on the Gold Coast around 8.15pm last night.

“During the course of an arrest a police dog has been set upon by another dog, forcing officers to use OC spray on the attacking animal in attempt to subdue it,” QPS media said.

“The attempt to subdue the dog has failed, and police were forced to discharge a weapon which fatally injured the attacking dog. The police dog “Bravo” sustained serious injuries and was treated by a vet overnight.”

The Ethical Standards Command is investigating and no person was physically injured.
